Nigeria’s Olympic movement is making a fresh commercial push.
The Nigeria Olympic Committee has signed a four-year Memorandum of Understanding with Brussel Sports Management Limited, appointing the firm as its official marketing partner in the build-up to the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
The NOC says the arrangement is designed to strengthen commercial partnerships, attract sponsorship and increase the visibility of its Games programmes and wider activities.
That gives the MOU a clear mandate: turn Olympic attention into stronger commercial value.
Under the arrangement, Brussel Sports Management is expected to develop and execute the NOC’s marketing and commercial strategy, secure sponsorships and promote NOC brands locally and internationally.
For the NOC
The pressure is not simply about appointing a marketing partner.
It is about proving that the partnership can deliver.
NOC president Habu Gumel acknowledged that previous marketing engagements had failed to produce major breakthroughs.
That admission matters because Nigeria’s Olympic movement carries a valuable national identity but still faces the challenge of converting sporting attention into sustainable commercial support.
Major Games create visibility.

Athletes create stories
Team Nigeria creates national attention.
But commercial growth depends on turning those assets into sponsorship inventory. Credible brand partnerships and relationships that survive beyond a single competition cycle.
That is where this MOU will ultimately be judged.
Brussel Sports Management now has a four-year window to help build a stronger commercial platform around the NOC and its programmes before Los Angeles 2028.
The opportunity extends beyond one Games
Olympic qualification campaigns, athlete storytelling, federation programmes, national-team identity and Games preparation can all become commercial assets if they are packaged effectively.
The challenge is converting those assets into dependable partnerships.
That means this MOU cannot be measured only by announcements or signing ceremonies.
It will be measured by what enters the system.
New sponsors.
Stronger visibility.
More valuable partnerships.
And a commercial structure capable of supporting Team Nigeria through the LA 2028 cycle.
For now, the NOC has made its move.
The commercial clock has started.
