Nigeria now know exactly where the road to AFCON 2027 begins and Group L offers less room for error than a normal qualifying section.
The Super Eagles will open their campaign against Madagascar on September 25 before travelling to face Guinea-Bissau on September 29.
But the real pressure sits deeper in the group.
Nigeria were drawn alongside Madagascar, Guinea-Bissau and Tanzania, one of the three automatic hosts of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations alongside Kenya and Uganda.
Because Tanzania already have a place at the finals, only the highest-ranked non-host nation in Group L will qualify through the group.
That turns six qualifying matches into a race with almost no safety net.
Nigeria effectively have to finish above both Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau in the battle among the three non-host teams.
The first two fixtures therefore carry immediate weight.
Madagascar come first on September 25, with CAF listing the match for 16:00 GMT. Four days later, Nigeria are scheduled to face Guinea-Bissau away, also at 16:00 GMT.
A strong opening window would give the Super Eagles early control of the qualification race.
Dropped points would tighten it immediately.

Group L Has a Different Kind of Pressure
CAF’s draw placed Nigeria, Madagascar, Tanzania and Guinea-Bissau together in Group L as part of the wider AFCON 2027 qualifying field.
Ordinarily, the leading teams in a group would expect multiple qualification routes.
The presence of co-host Tanzania changes the equation.
With Tanzania already guaranteed a place at the finals, Nigeria, Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau are effectively fighting over one available non-host ticket.
For the Super Eagles, that removes much of the usual qualification margin.
There is no comfortable fallback route.
Three Windows, One Race to Control
The opening fixtures are part of a qualifying campaign spread across three international windows.
Nigeria’s first task is clear: start quickly, avoid early damage and force their rivals to chase.
The campaign will ultimately decide whether the Super Eagles make the trip to East Africa for a tournament hosted jointly by Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.
That destination may already be guaranteed for Tanzania.
For Nigeria, it still has to be earned.
Madagascar provide the opening test. Guinea-Bissau follow four days later.
And with only one non-host qualification place available from Group L, the pressure begins from the first whistle.
The Super Eagles are not chasing comfort. They are chasing control.
