Sadiq Umar’s season has hit an early obstacle.
Valencia have confirmed that the Nigeria striker suffered an injury to his right hamstring during the match against Deportivo de La Coruña, placing him into a rehabilitation programme with no return date yet announced.
The club said medical examinations identified the hamstring problem and that Sadiq will undergo treatment, physiotherapy and rehabilitation until he is sufficiently recovered to return to full team training.
That last detail matters.
Valencia have not publicly placed a fixed timetable on his recovery, so any claim that the striker will miss a specific number of weeks goes beyond the club’s official medical update.
For Sadiq, the immediate battle is therefore not a countdown.
It is recovery.
The injury came in Valencia’s 3-1 league defeat away to Deportivo de La Coruña on August 30.

The Nigeria Angle Adds Another Layer Of Pressure
The Super Eagles are due to open their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign against Madagascar on September 25, with Nigeria also drawn alongside Tanzania and Guinea-Bissau in Group L.
That does not mean Sadiq has been ruled in or out of the squad.
Valencia have not announced a recovery deadline, and no official Nigeria squad decision cited here establishes his status for the qualifiers.
But with the international window approaching, every update on his rehabilitation now carries additional weight.
Valencia’s position remains straightforward: Sadiq will continue treatment, physiotherapy and rehabilitation until he is fit to return to full team training.
That leaves both club and country watching the same unresolved question.
How quickly can he get back?
The injury is confirmed. The rehabilitation plan is confirmed.
The recovery date is not.
Until Valencia issue another medical update, Sadiq Umar’s comeback remains a race without a public finish line.
