Raphael Onyedika has a new stage.
Eintracht Frankfurt have completed the signing of the Nigeria midfielder from Club Brugge, handing the 25-year-old a contract running until 2031. Frankfurt’s current first-team records list Onyedika as a midfielder wearing No. 25 and an Eintracht player since August 1, 2026.
For Onyedika, the move closes a four-year chapter in Belgium and opens another test in one of Europe’s major leagues.
He joined Club Brugge from Danish side Midtjylland in the summer of 2022 and developed into a regular part of the Belgian club’s midfield. Club Brugge describe him as a defensive midfielder who is also capable of operating centrally in defence.
Now Frankfurt have handed him a longer-term platform in Germany.
Frankfurt move is official
There is no longer any uncertainty over Onyedika’s destination.
Eintracht officially announced the transfer on August 2 and confirmed a contract through 2031. The club’s current 2026/27 squad pages also list the Nigerian among their first-team midfielders.
Frankfurt have already begun integrating him publicly into the squad.
The club documented his first day after arrival and followed that with his introductory press conference as an Eintracht player.
A new Bundesliga challenge
The transfer gives Onyedika a fresh test after his years in Belgium.
Frankfurt’s current midfield group includes Ellyes Skhiri, Hugo Larsson, Mario Götze, Farès Chaïbi and Can Uzun alongside the Nigerian.
That does not guarantee him a starting position.
It guarantees competition.
For a player entering a new league, that may be the first battle that matters: earning enough trust to turn a major transfer into consistent influence.
Super Eagles interest follows him to Germany
Onyedika’s move also gives Nigerian supporters another reason to watch the Bundesliga closely.
The Nigeria Football Federation has continued to include him in Super Eagles squads, including recent international windows, reinforcing his place in the senior national-team midfield picture.
That makes his adaptation at Frankfurt relevant beyond his new club.
