Cameroon took it away.
The Indomitable Lionesses knocked the hosts out of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, winning 3–1 on penalties after the semi-final finished 0–0 following 120 minutes.
It was the kind of result that flips an entire tournament in one night.
Morocco came into the tie with home pressure, recent knockout pedigree and a history of surviving WAFCON shootouts. Cameroon came in carrying the memory of repeated failure against host nations. By the end, that history had been broken.
Goalkeeper Michaely Bihina stood at the centre of another huge Cameroon night as the Indomitable Lionesses held their nerve in the shootout and booked a place in the final.
The result sends Cameroon into their fourth WAFCON final and ends Morocco’s bid to win the title on home soil.
For the hosts, the pain is severe. They had reached the previous two WAFCON finals and had built a reputation for surviving high-pressure knockout moments. This time, with the match still goalless after extra time, the shootout turned against them.
Cameroon, meanwhile, have now eliminated two of the tournament’s biggest names in successive knockout rounds.
They first sent defending champions Nigeria out in the quarter-finals. Now they have removed the hosts.

Bihina has been central to that story. Her nine-save performance against Nigeria had already underlined her importance before the semi-final, and Cameroon again emerged from another night where margins were brutally small.
Now only Malawi stand between them and the continental title.
The final is set for August 16 in Rabat, with Cameroon facing a Malawi side that has built its own breakthrough run through the tournament.
That guarantees a fresh kind of final.
For Morocco, the home dream is over.
