Osimhen Scores Twice — and Galatasaray Still Cannot Find a Win
Victor Osimhen did his job.
Galatasaray still left opening night with questions.
The Nigerian striker scored both goals as the reigning Turkish champions were held to a 2–2 draw by Arca Çorum FK, rescuing his side with a 90th-minute equaliser after Galatasaray had surrendered an earlier lead.
Osimhen struck in the 53rd minute and again in the 90th, turning what could have become a damaging home defeat into a point.
For Osimhen, it was the kind of personal intervention expected from Galatasaray’s biggest attacking weapon.
For Galatasaray, it was not the opening statement they wanted.
Osimhen Strikes First
The match remained goalless through the first half before Osimhen broke it open eight minutes after the restart.
His 53rd-minute goal put Galatasaray ahead and appeared to hand the hosts control.
It lasted six minutes.
Alexandros Kyziridis equalised for Çorum FK in the 59th minute before Jesús Ramírez struck again just two minutes later.
In barely eight minutes, Galatasaray had gone from 1–0 ahead to 2–1 behind.
Opening-night pressure suddenly had teeth.
Galatasaray Needed Osimhen Again
Galatasaray pushed for a response, but the equaliser did not arrive until the final minute of regulation.
Again, it was Osimhen.
The Nigerian struck in the 90th minute to make it 2–2 and prevent Galatasaray beginning their league campaign with defeat.
That goal changed the result.
It did not erase the warning.
Galatasaray had led at home, lost control almost immediately and needed another late intervention from their centre-forward simply to escape with a draw.
For Nigeria, the Signal Is Clear
For Nigerian audiences, there is little ambiguity about the strongest individual takeaway.
Osimhen has opened the new league campaign with two goals in his first Süper Lig appearance of the season.
He remains central to Galatasaray’s attack.
When they needed the breakthrough, he supplied it.
When the game appeared to be slipping away, he supplied another.
That is exactly the kind of responsibility expected of a forward carrying enormous attacking weight for the reigning champions.
Opening night suggests that burden has not disappeared.
If anything, it may be getting heavier.
Two Goals, One Point, Bigger Questions
A striker can rescue a result.
He cannot solve every problem around him.
Galatasaray conceded twice in quick succession after taking the lead, and that sequence will carry more concern internally than Osimhen’s numbers can hide.
The Nigerian’s brace gives Galatasaray an obvious positive.
The scoreline gives them something else to examine.
A champion side expected to control games allowed the momentum to turn in barely two minutes and then spent the remainder of the match chasing recovery.
Osimhen’s 90th-minute goal ensured the conversation would be about dropped points rather than defeat.
That is still a conversation Galatasaray would rather not be having after their first league game.
Osimhen Starts Fast — Galatasaray Do Not
There will be louder games ahead.
There will be bigger opponents.
There will almost certainly be heavier pressure.
But opening nights create first impressions, and this one produced two very different versions.
Osimhen looked ready.
Galatasaray looked vulnerable.
The Nigerian striker finished with two goals.
The champions finished with one point.
And after 90 minutes, Galatasaray already know what can happen when Osimhen’s fire is not matched by control behind him.
He rescued them once. The question is how often they will need him to do it again.
